Installing OpenLinux 56 Getting Started Guide Installing the Linux Loader (LILO) The next screen (Figure 30) lets you install the Linux Loader (LILO). LILO lets you choose which operating system to load when you boot your computer. FIGURE 30.  Select bootable partitions from the Linux Loader screen. The screen shows each bootable partition (assumed to contain an operating sys- tem), the type of partition it is, and the label assigned to it. The label is what you will type to choose to boot the operating system when your system starts up. Click on the partition that you want to be the default partition (the one that boots if you make no selection after a few seconds). Next you need to choose where to install LILO. Your choices are: Master boot record (MRB): Use this option if your OpenLinux system is installed on a second hard disk or if no Windows partition is installed. (When Windows is installed, you will probably have Boot Magic auto- matically installed in the MRB). Target partition (/dev/hda3): This places LILO on the OpenLinux parti- tion and is recommended when Boot Magic is installed (in the MRB). Other: This is for expert users who want to put LILO in another location.
